Hi all,
My DHSE was weeping oil from the metal collar that connects the steel pipe to the rubber hose on engine oil pipes, gearbox oil pipes, and PAS pipes.
Following the nightmare I had changing the auto box pipes (the ally oil cooler thread came off with the steel nut - had to buy a new cooler!) i'm reconsidering my options for the engine oil pipes.
It's been suggested on here to leave the pipe attached to the cooler and cut the pipe and join to the new one with a 1/2" compression fitting. Damn good idea which i'm considering.
But then I thought, why not cut off the steel collar with a dremmel and replace just the rubber hose. There is a bead form on the pipe under the collar so I could push the new rubber hose over it and use a worm drive clip to hold it in place.
Has anyone tried this, or can you think of any reason why that wouldn't work ?
Thanks.
