This Guy is a P38 Audio Genius(and a bloody nice bloke too!).....After contacting Clarky through this site, I paid him a visit with my 1998 4.0 V8...and, after some hard graft with soldering iron and his special circuit board/harness, I had astounding sound through my Harmon Kardon speakers with my new Kenwood head-unit!!!.....if you have any problems with P38 audio, or want a new head unit fitted....contact Paul (Clarky130)
Thanks Again Paul, your hospitality and service is second to none!

After successful tests on both Clarion and Alpine-equipped HK sound systems, I am now able to offer a definitive 'how-to' guide for fitting any aftermarket head unit to these systems (guide currently being written as we speak - pics will be included where able).

In addition I have bulk-purchased a good amount of parts to make up a few of these adaptors - which I am willing to offer at cost price plus postage. These work out considerably cheaper than the commercially available ones, and unlike some, are true 'plug-and-play' and actually WORK!

The guide I will post up will contain full details of how to build one yourself, which is actually quite straightforward if you are handy with a soldering iron. Alternatively, let me know if you are interested and I can knock one up for you. Cost price for components is a little shy of £20. There are two basic designs, one for the earlier Clarion systems, and a slightly different one for the later Alpine systems. They will also work on DSP-equipped systems.

If anyone is interested, post up here or PM me, so I can gauge interest levels.

I agree with the comment above, this Clarky bloke is one of them there genius's. The sound in my truck with the new Kenwood DAB head unit is just superb, and i'm so over the steering wheel controls !

Clarky130 would you make me one of your leads for my 98 vouge se clarion HU and recommend a HU best suited to HK SET up thats noy megga bucks thanks

Clarky 130 -I have tried to send you a PM about the leads, but nothing is coming up in the old sent box - could you please send details of the leads - price etc, for a 99 HSE with an alpine and the single amp in the rear.
Thank you

Does anyone else have the link to clarkys diagram for making the leads?cant get a reply from him, want to put an alpine CD player in mine with the harmon kardon and get rid of the clarion head unit,

The leads aren't so much of a problem ,I can solder the correct wires up etc.its more about the people saying you need attenuators or something to stop the buzzing noise,by using resistors,I can do this but just want to make sure it will work how it should once done,if anybody's done it on a clarion harmon kardon and worked good, let me know, even the products that were used would be helpful, there's a write up on rangeroversnet, about the attenuators but said it was for an original alpine headunit swap over to something else,I would want all my amps and speakers to work inc the sub, thanks for any info guys

I have heard these kits work, if you ignore the whine and rumbles. Surely a standard with aux in for mp3 player and or DAB is easier. Keeping steering controls and with most phones, hands free. The problem is the balanced transformerless output that the Clarion used, still used to this day.

I have just fitted kenwood hu to my harmon kardon system, great sound no background noise sw ok. bought wiring harness from nexxia. the first rig i got had noise so i got back to them. they asked me to try a new rig they had come up with, only problem is no steering controls, i can live with that.
