Buttertubs pass is Clarkson's favourite Buttertubs Pass, North Yorkshire

Stop and have a pint o Black Sheep at the Red Lion in Langthwaite (All Creatures Great and Small pub), buy an ice cream from Eller, head down the road to Muker and you're away.

Some great off roading on Bellerby Moor if you can avoid the tanks and heavy artillery ;)

its a pretty gud road and pretty steep but easily usable in any car really. you must stop at top though to observe views on a clear day

dint like ter be an anorakl but i dint think they made a gpz1000, thought it was 900 and the 1100

Mind you! If yer need out fixin in jockland the folks are great, whipped off the rad and give it to the bus drive who took it to Inverness to an ally welders then brought it back the next day think it cost me about 12 squid

Aye I had to go from Applecross to Inverness with a bald back tyre to get a new un. It was the only one in the North of Scottishland. The pics bring back memories speshly the fost one. Will go back sometime and take our Myrtle to show her what she missed.

I once followed a 10 year old Ford minibus up Hardknott full of scouts.
But dont let that put you off its still a great drive and i allways take time to drive it when i'm up there.
Ps
Give way too up hill traffic cause a hill start is a bugger.

i think hardknotts or wrynose is billed as the steepest road in england.
i did drive a 998cc mini over both last year so i dont think you will be troubled!
get an OS explorer map (orange cover) and find some byways

Well did it and got the teeshirt last week! what a fantastic road to drive on and the view from the top right over the Isle of Man was breathtaking, we got stuck behind an old gadgy in a passat and ended up overtaking him an the grass verge, we did a total of 825 miles in one of the most beautifull areas of the Uk that i've visited and looking forward to going back sometime if just for the look on the wifes face at the bottom of the hardknott :p . On a serious note the disco took the Wrynose and the Hardknott in its stride even on the really steep hairpins then while we were in a car park in Keswick the bloody ABS lights came on after loosing traction on a patch of gravel :( , well enoughs enough and after it's been sorted out yet again the disco's next use will be a deposit on a Nissan Navara, sorry but if the land rover is suppose to be the best 4x4 i'd hate to own the worst, they'd have to go a long way for me to part company with serious cash on another of their vehicles.

It's knott winch territory! Hehe! Anyway, it's a bit steep for a road but within the capability of any family car..

Cheers,

Dennis
