HI all

had this problem for a while now. i put up a thread a while back but got no reply what so ever but plenty of views.

in my previous thread i was having problems trying to get my handbrake to disengage. turns out my pistons were sticking so the shoes* would stay locked on. i replaced the pistons and then straight away the handbrake cable snapped. so i replaced that. now i have new pistons, new shoes* and now the handbrake wont engage. its touching but just not enough. now i looked at guides and i followed them to there instructions but still its not engaging :S

any one have anything ells i could be missing? :S M.O.T coming on the horizon!

thanks in advance

Ben

when you apply hand brake is the expander actually moving the shoes ,they can be assembled incorrectly easily ,and adjust shoes then cable

Out of interest, is it very hard to pull the lever? Theres a bracket the cable runs through. That can be over tightened mistakenly thinking you making cable too taught

The pistons all come assembled when u bought them new. They shouldn't rely be sticking. Before I put them in they were loose enough to move with your hand

I've looked at that and adjusted the nut plenty of times hoping I could find the right adjustment but still no joy.

Any other suggestions anyone?

thanks for all the replies guys, was a happy man to wake up to replies on the subject this time round :)

Just because hand brake expander is new does not mean its been assembled correctly,as James says check its moving the shoes with the drum off.
