how to adjust handbrake on me p38??????

The procedure is well documented in RAVE - assuming you have a copy.

I have looked through the RAVE docs but I'm planning on dropping the gearbox so need to take it off from the tunnel. I have loosened the main screw but all the instructions seem to say is pull, do I just give it a good tug and it comes off?

hand brake is adjusted first with adjuster on rear bottom of backplate and the at cable at rear of lever assembly ,you can pull cable from lever assembly if you lubricate rubber end where it is held at lever you will probaly need to use a screw drive to help feed rubber through as has wider end than tube it goes through

With handbrake lever in off position back off cable adjuster under floor. Tighten adjuster on backplate of handbrake assembly to 18 Lb Ft/25 nm. Back off 1.5 turns. Adjust cable until hand brake is on in three clicks.
