Hello

Can somebody please explain to me (in English) the handbrake system on the TD5's.. From what i have read, its some sort of drum thats attached to the gearbox?.. How does it work ? and is it easy to get to?

I have a feeling either oil or clutch fluid has leaked into there and causing me a few issues... feels like im towing a tank at the moment.

Thanks in advance

The brake plate is bolted to the rear output housing of the transfer box the drum is bolted between the rear prop an the transfer box output shaft so when you put yer handbrake on it brakes the rear propshaft rather than the wheels. If the rear output shat oilseal leaks then the transfer box gear oil can leak onto the brake shoes and drum. If your handbrake is binding then all it probly needs is taking off cleaning an putting back on again. If they are regularly serviced, cleaned and adjusted once a year or more regular if your blathering it in ****e all the time, then there int owt wrong with em an there's no need to spend a fortune on disc brake replacements.
