Hand break problem

When unseizing my difflock yesterday I had to disconnect the hand break to remove the center console.
Now the button will not pop out by itself and it's a right pain to get it to stay on.
Is there a spring or something inside that I've lost or are I being dim.

you need to tweak the wire rod that runs from button once you get it straight it will allow button to operate

Had the same issue yesterday as I brought a new console, just make sure if the button is stuck in, wiggle a long thin screwdriver down it until it pops out and make sure the lever is in the down position.

As above, bent rod, straighten, and yer good to go. Even a slight bend can jam it.

Hand break now fixed, thanks guys
while I was at it I got a few other niggling jobs done, the drivers door handle is now adjusted and opens as it should and I swapped the front speakers as they were ****.
Still need to swap the starter motor but I'm waiting for someone to remove one off their scrapper.
