Groaning/creaking noise when turning steering wheel

Hello all,
Hope you can help me out.I have started to notice a loud groaning/creaking (best way of describing it) noise whenever i turn the steering wheel? Any ideas what this could be? All help would be great.I own a 1996 4.6 hse autobiography.

yeh i would try that too-it might not be the damper! it just was on mine...

I am just ignoring mine at mo , its not that bad but its at its worst when cold on full lock

i think yours wants to be a P38. forever going wrong

Hey! poor old thing had been abused before I got her. I wouldnt choose to fix one up this much again.

I am not worried, its just sounds like old volvo power steering!

not got 760 gle badge anywhere has it. poor old girl, i am sure you will get there with her mate. if not buy a
p38 and you can see just how lovely the old classic is, even with groaning pas, sounds like an oil change might help it

the old 244 and 240 glt and a bit like the 940 turbo my parents have at the moment, but only on full lock when cold.

whats the p.a.s oil like? is it nice and clean or is it all smelly and burnt like a tramps underpants lol

its abouthalf way between the two , I got a new unused pump for it for £30 on the off chance it was that , months ago but its still fine and I have had enough for now so it can stay!

i hate changing power steering pumps as well, lol. change the oil first mate, probably cure it
