Grind while heavy braking?

Never noticed, too busy wondering wot sort of mess the micra was gonna be if he didn't floor it!

No idea, is there an easy way to tell. Never had ABS on a motor before as they've nearly always been old bangers.
Doe's a light light up on dash saying ABS when you switch on if it does you've got ABS or you can look under the bonnet follow brake pipes from servo if they go to quite a large box with ABS wrote on it .... but I dont think abs was fitted on 93 200tdi's but Iam not sure.

Looks like I have no choice but to go to a garage, been on it since yesterday morning but I haven't got all the right tools for the job. My sockets are knackered or gone walkies, (probably lent out and never returned) and my spanners seem to have grown legs too.
At the rate I'm going I'll end up spending as much on tools and parts as it will cost to get it done. Gonna spend some time phoning round tomorrow and get some prices, hopefully I can get someone to come out and do it cus it won't drive now as I can't get any gears, also I don't want to spend the next couple of hours putting the centre console back in.

Hope I can get it done for less than the £450 I was told!!!!:Cry::Cry:

We had both our defender clutches done in the last year and they cost less than £300 at the local clutch centre. No reason why a Disco should be much more than that apart from dismantling the centre console.
Have a shop around.
By the sound of it, your clutch release bearing broke up. Thats usually part of the replacement clutch kit anyway.
While they've got it apart, get them to look at the clutch release arm as well. They wear on the pivot.

The ABS can scare the hell out of you the first time you use them. I know someone who swerved to avoid a cat, slamed on the anchors to stop, heard and felt the noise so let off the brakes and whent through a hedge. Just ingnore them or run over the micra.

I'm struggling like hell to get a mobile mechanic who can come and do the job. Any guys on here live near the walsall area who wanna earn a few quid for xmas who have the neccessary tools for the job, I've got the disco on axle stands outside my house and the centre console is already removed. I need someone who can drop the gearbox off, find which part is the problem and replace the gearbox.
Got to get this job done ASAP as my son can't go to school if I haven't got a motor as he's epileptic and can't travel on public transport by himself.

Any takers??? PM me if you can help and come and quote me.

Cheers

stu

Job done, tw@ts didn't bleed the clutch properly though. Back in the garage monday to finish the job properly!!

Pumping the clutch everytime I stop just to keep going at the moment.

It was the pressure plate that went, guy at the garage said it didn't look too old either but it had split completely!
