seen loads of pics of series 3 with cover over front grill. When/why do I need to get one on please? Farmers always had plastic sack in front when I was a kid (one or two years ago), could I use that? Thanks

you can get proper rad muff ,there not expensive and most are adjustable ideal for winter driving to keep water temp up,and to keep mud splashing onto rad

Surprisingly, if you google "radiator muff" you only get muffs for radiators! Try Paddocks.

I've seen people use cardboard stuffed behind the plastic grill - I'm sure you could use some corrugated plastic sheet (veg boxes from Tesco might be a source) and some tiewraps if you're really skint.

being a tight wad i made mine from plywood and gave it a coat of fence stain. put three holes in with a holesaw and it looks good on the front
