Problem for me.
Went to tax the Landy online Wednesday - insurance not found
Phoned insurers, tried to tax yesterday - insurance not found

Phoned again, they assured me to try this morn and all would be well

insurance not found

Am in work, can't get to post office. Will see if I can get the Dakar on the road for tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me if any of the lanes have any majorly low thick tree branches or are majorly tight with thick branches.

The Dakar is 7ft 10 tall in total, and the wings are fibreglass.

I went out this afternoon after work to have a look at some of the lanes.

One lane that was particularly rutted and awkward has been resurfaced and the water splash is reasonably low, but still good for pictures and videos.

As there has not been much rainfall recently the ground is rock solid.

So other than that, all is well. No big overhanging trees of note or awkwardly narrow.

Any issues all can be bypassed without too much trouble.

That is good news!

Looks like it'll be the dakar then, however, I don't think the cb works in it.

Il try to get the steering built up tonight,

After 6 hours messing around today I'm ready to go. Cb is in and I'm getting an set reading of 1.3-1.4 on channels 1,20 and 40 so all is looking good

Glad to hear the water is reasonably low. I'll just take it careful through water until I fit the snorkel and waterproofing more after payday.

Jason, is your cb meter something you could bring tomorrow? i dont know what range im supposed to get with my cb but i wouldnt mind a look at the reading if thats ok?

I couldnt get the diff guard or the winch fitted so im without them.

Looking forward to tomorrow guys see you at half 8.

yeah no problem, it'll be in the disco so just remind me and we can test it

i've just change to the mag mount on the roof because i realised i read the meter wrong lol, need to earth my psm-1 mount on the back properly but it was a pain getting to the wires so i've just run the magmount cable round the roof and got a spot on 1.2 reading after properly setting up the meter lol

see you all tomorrow.

Righty, Dakar seems to be 'road fit' so, CB seems to be working

I will head to maccies at Junc 4 (Shirley) for @7:40. I'll leave CB on channel 20.

Grab a coffee and head up M42.

cheers for a good day out today guys, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next trip, hopefully by then I'll have a snorkel and we'd of had some rain.

gonna get a couple of photos uploaded later on

yeah thanks guys, was a good day. ill echo Jason, we need rain and then we can go out again. thursday and friday is looking ok for rain.

Thanks to Matt for leading the way, and providing the routes. Ill have to get memory map i think.

Hob Lane is a stonker when it is wet.

Tinkers Lane is ok, quite short,

There are a couple out Aston Cantlow way, including a good long ford

+ There is the ford at Packington.

Anyone here used www.wetroads.co.uk (.com?)

Those two fords are on there

The 2nd one of the Dakar ; looks like a boat!

Yeah but the first one is a good un though. :)

Ive seen the wetroads website, little out dated i think as a lot of the fords are now closed. there is one near the company i work for in longbridge and i think its closed but wetroads says its open.

Do you have any grid ref's for the byways you listed Si?

Id like to go take a look maybe in the evening next week. Forgot to ask you about that actually its near you isnt it?

Matt
