i want to do some green laning in the peak district but i havnt a clue of where to start or go. can any one point me in the right direction please

Liam the easiest the advice is to obtain the OS maps of the area, study them by looking for the legal byways and roads, once you have the start and ends plotted check the grid referances with the local rights of way officer at the council controlling the district. Nobody on here will give out positions of lanes as the lanes need safeguarding against future closure notices caused by the "hooligan" element that might have got hold of the routes. Or if you find the lanes on the maps check back on here with somebody that regularly posts within the green lane section and i am sure via pm's they will assist you. Or better still get involved with others that are organising runs in that area and see if you can tag along - we all started somewhere

Heres some ideas for ya.

Buy some os maps for the areas you wanna lane around.

Try and get involved in some local runs out with other laners.

If you can its worth getting hold of memory map.

Never go alone.

check out trailwise if you wanna no about any local tro's.

It does take people a while to sort there own routes so its unlikely that people will give them out so the best advice is do lots of homework and try and get out with others laners pal.

ok ive bin looking for some os maps but i cnt find any in the shops ive visited, what is memory map? im from stoke on trent but when i ask people from round here there all seem to say they dont no of any.

Any good camping store will stock the maps you need also you will find them in many decent garage filling stations price start from around a fiver.
If you keep your eye out on here you might find the odd run happening in the peaks, there is one this weekend over the bank holiday, how prepared is your vehicle and what are you driving.

thanks, ive got a 200tdi discovery, its quite standard but has 2inch lift and a/t tyres. i dont realy want to do anythin to drastic as i use it for work every day and cant afford to trash it

Well all i can say is just keep your eye open for some runs around the peaks in the future and check out youtube to watch a few vids of the areas around the peaks where people go like Chapelgate, Pindale, Stanage edge, Roych & Houndkirk that way you'll know what your landy will have to take.

does anyone no if there is any green lanes around the birmingham or worcester or warwick please new to green laning

av ya looked ont map?

Obviously not. But being able to read helps!

If you dont read the first few posts of the thread your posting on, how can we expect him/her to read a map!

It was all laid out, how to find lanes.

I had to do all the work myself aswell, ill be fooked if ill just tell someone i dont know about lanes just so they can go and rip them up.

Oh and :welcome2: but you should post in the new members section first :)
