Hi all,

On a bit of a learning curve here! We have a 2001 TD5 and it has suddenly started making a really bad graunching noise whilst in neutral. It doesnt do it all the time, and it appears to be only when the clutch is depressed. This would normally point to the clutch release bearing, but

- This would normally be all the time
- It sounds more like gears not properly engaged

Any thoughts???

sounds like a worn spigot bush to me.... but what ever it is u'll know just after the gearbox is off... so IMO get used to it untill it becomes worst or the clutch will start to slip

Just been out in it again, very intermittent, fine most of the time just graunches now and again when stationery or in first gear.

Seems to disappear if I rev the engine a bit, certainly seems consistent with the spigot bush theory........

Well the gearbox is off, and it looks like it is the DMF and the spigot bearing! New clutch also required and new seals on the gearbox/transfr box to cure the oil leak. Badly corroded brake pipe noted, having that done as well.

Nothing that £1050 wont put right:Cry:

two weeks into Landy ownership and wondering why!!!!!
