Hello everyone!... I'm in Kalamazoo Michigan USA and this is my first post!... I have been reading on here for a while... and just bought my 4th Rover... a 2002 Freelander!... It needs a little love but is in pretty good shape...

With this rover, it came with the original Navigation unit... so I went to install it today instead of the aftermarket one that was in it... and sure enough they did not cut any wires... but after installing the unit.. it just says GPS Antenna Malfunction.... The Radio antenna part is broken off on top of the rover... where it screws into it... Is this the same antenna that the GPS system uses???....

Thanks a lot guys and looking forward to being on here for a long time!

Thanks for the reply!... Does the GPS part have to have the long mast screwed into it to work or does just the base pick up the GPS signal?... I will check it out under the antenna today as the roof light switches does not work either!... Thanks again, Kelly

Hi K,

As far as I understand, from when I had it checked in Germany for a poor signal, it's the base bit that does the GPS and the mast is the normal radio antenna.

Good luck.

Well after checking it out today... Everything seems okay at the antenna... I done a little parts # checking and the GPS & non-GPS uses two totally different antennas... I got the receipts from when the previous owner replaced the original one with the antenna from a non-GPS Freelander (receipts for 2 new ones) as the lady broke them often backing out of her garage! So they will interchange, however the non-GPS model sells for $17 & the GPS model sells for $120... so maybe it really does matter!... Bummer, as it looks as I will not be getting one for a while!!!

:welcome2: Also to owning a Freelander, hope you have deep pockets.

They consume money like they consume fuel. I find mine annoyingly compulsive, my bank manager finds my compulsion annoying!
