Hi all,
Some may already know about these , but im going to post it anyway for the benifit of others.

if you have rounded nuts on you landy that you eather cant get to with grips of a gas axe, i have found a socket set made by Irwin.

oh my god i wish i had found out about these years ago, unlike a normal 6 sided socket , these have loads of teeth in side, the socket looks a bit like a barrel of a gun as you look down.

i had to do my anti roll bar bushes today and the previus muppet owner had rounded of the 4 10mm nuts. great!!!!

went to my local motor factors and got this set..

loads of duck oil and 15 mins later job done.... had to replace the bolts but came out a doddle.

hope this is of some help to you all.

i sware this is a life saver.

Spanners, Sockets and Wrenches - Draper, Irwin & Hilmor

Irwin Bolt Grip Basic Set 5pc Ref: 82575

Can be used with either a drive socket or standard wrench. Reverse spiral flutes that bite down for maximum gripping power. High-speed carbon steel ensures longer life and greater durability. Universal lobular design fits all types of fasteners.

I have the snap-on ones and would be lost without them. There are 2 sets. One set does 8mm to about 19mm and the other set does 19mm to 24mm. They have paid for themselves time and time again.

Might ave ter pop up there later on (if i ever get me bastid motor back from the bleedin garage!) - are they better than the infamous pipewrench?

pipewrench is OK if you can get it onto the nut. you can get these bolt-grip sockets anywhere you can get a standard socket. also, you can apply downwards pressure whilst undoing.

they've got helix shaped hardened flutes that bite into the nut. the harder you heave the deeper they bite. yes they damage the nut / bolt, but it's buggered anyway!
