ok got a series 3. problem is. it wont start unless u push it and jump it. there no electrics working at all nothing. as tho it has no battery connected. battery is connected however and is chrged. so wats the best starting place to check. have no idea bout electrics really so need help lol!!
many thanks

sounds silly but it is connected right and the other end of the cables are attached to there respective parts ie earth to chassis

nothing works its as tho there isnt a battery connected. everything total dead. if u push it it still starts but no electrical power anywhere. not even on dash.

check the earth lead from the batt to the chassis, then check the batt terminals and where the terminal clamps connect to the wires, then go to the solenoid near the o/s bulkhead and check connections there.
Your lights should work even without any fuses in, I'm guessing that its one of the thick leads to the batt, an earth or one of the terminal clamps, the dash gets its power from the solenoid.
try shorting the 2 large terminals on the solenoid very briefly and without shorting to the chassis, if the starter jumps then its a dash problem.

To find electrical faults a multimeter is what you need, then use it with a circuit diagram of the Land-Rover wiring. Luckily Series Land-Rover electrics are as simple as it gets, so ideal for for learning on.
