I have got most of the electrics connected and working - just a few more bits to get sorted (hazards, horn etc).
At the moment, the console with all the dials and switches on it is just sitting free on a seat- much easier to sort out connections.
Apart from the bare bulkhead, i don't have any of the interior dashes sorted - as they all need lots of work on them.
Is it possible to install the console in its correct place without all these other items, or is the console fixed to them?

The dash panel and the heater box can be removed without the loom, so yes. Mostly.

Not sure about the binnacle surround, or the vent lever panel, though.

I am not sure what you mean by the console is that the binnacle? Although the loom is fitted separately, from memory when I did mine, to be able to build up any of the rest of the dash you need the vent panel and the heater box/lower dash fitted as everything else mounts form these two. They are certainly the first parts needed for a defender bulkhead build which i did far more recently and IS still fresh in my memory!

I have put the dash support on the car, and held it in place with cable ties, which works as a temporary solution.
