Got a quote today :'(

So, got a quote for my valve oil seals today, as i'm not sure if i can do the task in hand, nor have the equipment on hand to do it.

£800 + VAT!!!

Seems a little excessive for a 20 year old disco lol. And no, that wasn't from a landy dealer either.

Anyways, that is all. Had someone else tell me they'd do it for £300, so think i'll go for that option

Even £300 sounds a lot to me, I am sure I read you can do it without taking the head off.

I'm sure other people can, but i'm not very mechanically minded lol

I struggle to change a handbrake cable... lol

I did mine the other week, no experience doing anything like this before. But I thought i would give out a go so I took the head off to do the gasket and also changed the valve stem seals at the same time. It was easy with the head off. Will post some pictures later.

Oh it was on a 200tdi

A mate of mine, has just done it on his 300tdi (discohutch) I will get him to upload his pics too! Cost just under £100 in parts. Including gaskets and other stuff.

id be looking at £225 inc parts to do that job but im also a bit too far away

Just a little too far, haha! I'd be willing for like an hour or 2 drive if i can get it cheaper than the £300, if anyone fancies it?
