i found a set of rr classic diffs in a land rover breakers that had been outside for over a year and were in "much" worse condition than those. I fitted them changed the oil seal and ran them. They have been in my series 2a for 8 years now and i have done over 20000 miles no problem and i have never had a problem. As long as they spin they should be fine.

landrover parts, bloody build to last :)

get you home or getting about locally i guess u might be ok I certainly wouldn't bother will cause more grief than its worth. If i intend on doing any mikage be it a salisbury trip or driving to south Africa no feckin way. I use my 90 for what it was designed for and beyond, its design limits. For it to reliably take the continious weekend in weekend out offroad abuse and continue faultlessly when asked of it with only minimal basic maintainance Them there diffs would be laughed at before being stripped of any usable parts and the rest sent to the local scrappy. If i was to chance it. It would be a sign of my poor ability to maintain my vehicle and no doubt cast judgement on my reputation weather you believe that to be good or bad I don't care. If somone has got away with it good luck Sir!

I think it would be inadvisable. If i broke a motor while competing and i needed to continue for the resr of the day or comp then and they were all I had then ofcourse i would fit them. Followed by the next weekend stripping the whole lot out mopping up the axle casings carb cleaning all the bearings and axle case ready to fit a reliable unit that will last and not cause more problems with knackering bearings and the like.

What Would Strorm Say?

Quite frankly sir, I don't give a ****.

I'm not storm although he has some great posts!

You cant please everyone.

Right I'm going trialing have fun gentlemen.

yeh we wont be using our land rovers the way you use yours jai, so i think the diffs could have been alright.

either way, went over to my mate to check the "funny noise" it was making from the rear diff.... it was a wheel bearing completly shot. the only thing holding the wheel was the caliper... once the caliper was removed, the hub just came off...

so no need for the diff :D
