Hello,

I would like to some more power out of my 110 3,5 V8. I have naturally been looking at different carbs etc. But maybe someone out there have a good advice, that at the same time is affordable:) The weber carb is quite expensive, to me anyway.

Cheers

What I did with my 110 V8 was to put on a pair of old S U's then took it to a tuner with a rolling road for new jets and needles to be fitted, whole lot cost about £200 in 1998 but paid for itself in economy after about 10 months. I was able to get it set up for more torque rather than outright h'power, made it much nicer to drive.

I would agree with above. A well tuned pair of su's can give a decent power gain. Also the 110 has a low compression heads os it may be wort changing them. A second hand engine out of an sd1 wouldgive you all the parts you need for little money.

You might be better posting on the range rover forum and in the v8 forum as I am sure they will have many more ideas.

I am not a v8 specialist so better check the above out first but have experience with SU's and they can be heavily worked (best source of information from classic mini drivers) and can be made to be extremely competent.

On top of that it is a case of improving breathing so you are looking at intake and exhausts.

All depends on how much or little you want to spend

Cheers

When I rebuilt my V8 I used a Holley with a secondary metering kit mated to an offi manifold also used a Piper fast road cam and various other mods which cost me over 2.5K and that was for the bits with me doing the work.
If your not going to throw money at it then tbh just make it breathe better, tune up, decent filtration and better exhaust. The most noticable mod was when I fitted a lightened/balanced flywheel, engine spun up much quicker.

The pistons determine the CR of the V8 - only a small increase can be made by skimming.

A decoke goes a long way to rejuvenating a V8; new torquey cam and lifters, ground in valves, and SUs in good nick.
