gona up grade my series 3 engine and body wont to put a V8 in an fat wheels and a soft top wot would be the cost and the pit falls

whats it for off roading or are you trying to look flash, are you doing this for function or looks, bye the sounds of it looks well, fat wheels look silly on series stick to original, if your looking at sticking a rover v8 in they did but read up and they had to modify the bulkhead and move the grill to the front in my eyes stick to the 2.25 and if your into it stick str8 through exhausts on it my petrol sounds beast, mind i have been running it with nothing after the manifold :p, o and if your competant in doing this why are you asking get on with it and tell us how you got on, :) just have fun, just dont turn a series into a barryboy car

It would probably be cheapest and easiest to buy a series III that's already been converted, or even get an original 90/110 V8. Never done it myself, but from talking to people who have and looking at converted vehicles:
  • Welding would be needed to modify the bulkhead and rig up an exhaust system, and no doubt to make up various brackets and plumbing adaptors.
  • You'd need a adaptor plate to mate the engine to the box
  • unless your'e really good, you'd need to buy some engine mounts.
  • I've got a feeling that a remote oil filter conversion is needed.
  • You'll need to buy an electric fan too - not cheap for a decent one.
  • The engine will go in without moving the front panel
  • Standard radiator is probably a bit iffy with a V8

Pretty close; though the water-pump shaft needs properly shortening to clear the rad; of which HD 4-core SIII item is just about able to cope with carb V8 power; but the devil is in the detail, and before fitting a V8 you need to make sure EVERYTHING else is as good as you can make it, from the gear-box and axles to take the torque, to teh steering, brakes and suspension to make sure it stops as well as it goes, and you dont have somethiung that simply wobbles twice as fast as it does with a tsandard engine.......

Here; some useful advice:-
V8 Conversion
Dropping in a V8
V8 into Light-weight
