Its a 2004 1.8. Just a bit worried about all the talk on the head gasket!! Should I be worried??

Suppose being a woman makes me paranoid!! Don't want to hate it before I Get. So looking forward to it ;-).

check underneath to make sure it was a propshaft all the way from the front to the back and insist on a LONG warranty.
If it doesnt have either then walk.

Yup ... the propshaft issue is very important and if it's not all there it will have been removed to cover up a very expensive fault! Also see if there is any trace of a HGF being repaired in the service history ... good luck ;)

Well Chaps, the gasket has been replaced and the cam belt. It has propshaft from front to back so I got it !!! I love it :). Thanks for your support on this, much appreciated.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome. Still grinning like a cheshire cat at the moment. Love it!! I know that I'll want another one when the time comes, think I'm converted :p. Nice to know if something goes wrong (hope not!!) that I have someone to discuss/help. Keep safe....

Now we just need to convince you to sell the freelander and get into a defender......nothing sexier than a lady in a fender!

Just keep a close eye on your coolant level and you'll be just fine. Happy mud plugging.
