All, in need of some advise!!
Right my little mud slugger is having starting issues.

I am not seeing the glow plug light when I turn the keys.
I have changed three of them and as per a previous post snapped the fourth but its all intact.

Looking at previous threads I took fuse fuse 22 out, turned on the ignition and yes I get the needles all going full. turned it off, put the fuse back and behold, I saw the glow plug light, it went out after a couple of seconds and car started fine. Turned it off, left it for a minute and again, the glow plug light came on, went out and it started fine. Moved it a few feet, when I went back an hour later. No sign of the glow plug light and wouldn't start. Pulled fuse 22 and hasn't made a difference, started like crap but did eventually start.

I have found a plug with three wires hanging under the air intake in the middle. The left hand one is connected, cant feel a socket so assume I need to take the inlet off again.

Any ideas on the glow plugs (apart from fix the broken one) For the love of money I cant find a clear picture of the relay location. Am going to check the voltage when her ladyship decided to help me.

What engine?
I'm assuming it's a TD4. The glow light won't show if the ambient temperature is more than 15°C.

Have you replaced the HP regulator O rings?

If it's an L series diesel, then none of the above will be any help.

Hi Sorry yes its a TD4, when its been used its fine. It the first start up its a real pig.
Not replaced any O rings

The reason I have pulled the intake off again is I found a connector hanging. Now it comes from the black box where the glow plug connectors come from. Its not the air intake sensor or the one on the left hand end of the intake manifold as I have accounted for both them. I cant find anywhere for it to connect too. It will reach as far as the diesel common rail and toward the fan but there is nothing there for it to connect too. Tried searching on here and google to no joy. It must have a home somewhere!! any glues?

There's not necessarily home for that plug.
It's likely to be the redundant rail sensor plug, which becomes spare when the rail sensor overlay harness is fitted. Your rail sensor should now have a green plug, which shows it has the overlay harness fitted.
Just tie that one out the way.

I am sure it is the fuel rail sensor without it being fitted it will run rough as the round rubber piece allows for it to be pushed on the end of the air intake that holds it in place the black box is just a connection box

Thanks all, the green plug is present on the rail, that goes back to the ECU box. When I looked inside the original wires are removed and this is in it place. Found a pic on another thread which made me check and this confirmed which is a relief. Wish I did more research before I stripped it again.
Its off that sometimes it start fine, its first thing its a tight mare to start. once its going its fine, not lump and drives great.
