Good evening all ,I am after help with relay problems. I have a series 3 swb estate with a discovery 1 200 tdi engine in it but the glow plugs are not wired up . I have seen wiring diagrams on how to adapt the discovery glow plug relay/ timer to a series 3 .The timer /relays are easy to obtain but the base that they fit in dont to be
advertised any were. Can any body help to locate these bases. also the diagrams state that a starter relay is also fitted but does not state what amp rated relay is needed, can some one help with this as well. Thanks Steve.

I have the disco relay fitted for the glow plugs but just used push on spades at base of relay all but one are 6.3mm lucar , the other just has a 6.3 lucar pushed onto it works well. The starter relay is not required as the ignition switch is capable of taking the load for the solenoid

Thanks for the picture info Blackburn, but could you please tell me were the terminals go to and come from as the wiring diagrams I have seen only tell you the basic position of the parts and not were the terminals fit and what they fit to Thanks Steve

Are the original plugs worked of the ignition key. Just connect the original wire into the 200tdi circuit and work it off the key manually.

Mine has a heater station on the ignition switch so I didn't bother with the relay at all. As long as you can count up to 8 or 10, just do it manually. The thing is that the 200 engine is such a good starter that you will only need the glow-plugs when temperatures are below freezing anyway and mine starts without them even then.

see attached.pdf for relay pins info also my drawing
