Whoever had my series 3 before me put coiled bits of wire in place of where the fuses should go, under the steering column. Does anyone know where I can get proper glass fuses, also what rating should they be at? A local supplier tells me he can get 6.3 x 32mm ones @ 20A but not sure if these will do the trick??

Good stuff, does anyone know a supplier? Old glass fuses difficult things to come by a couple of motor factors tell me...

I have been thinking of changing from the glass type to the blade type.
It looks like a straight swap. I have other things to do before getting to
changing the fuse box, but I plan to do this at the same time I put in new
wiring for a gps / pc / mp3 player type thing... a small tablet pc would be brill,
but I digress....
I am reading these posts in a different forum. Hope it helps.

Thanks for responses all. I tried local Halfords and they have bags of 35A ones in stock. I'll try these and revert to changing to modern fuses if glass ones prove disastrous.

Just changed my 110 fuse boxes from glass to spade type.
Easy job, just do one wire at a time or one side at a time and you cant go wrong.
Got my bits from Vehicle wiring products on the net and they came in the post next day:) very pleased with it and no more dicky fuses.
