GKN Overdrive MORE Problems

Hi Everyone,

Some help please!!!!

My Overdrive is still not working, has been fitted for 5 months and worked for 1 month! Have had new speed sensor and new solenoid sent and fitted.......still not working. I have now reached a serious problem.....no one wants to work on the thing and GKN are saying the only way they will look at it is if I take the bloody thing off and send it to them. Surely if there is a warranty on it then GKN can advise of somewhere where I can get it mended.

Please can someone reccomend what I should do. Do I take it off and do the Higher ratio gears in the transfer box, do i get it mended somewhere else or do i ask GKN for money back. Getting through to them though is a real pain and I have been trying for 4 days straight now and am going crazy. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Once again, it is time to write a letter.

First make a list of all the LandRover type magazines, every single one.

Then WRITE to GKN as follows:

Dear Sirs,

GKN Overdrive for LandRover

Five months ago I bought a new overdrive unit. This has proved to be totally unreliable, and it has worked after a fashion for about one month out of five.

It is my intention to write to every magazine on the attached list detailing both my experiences of the overdrive unit, and your dreadful response to my problem.

If I don't hear from you with positive suggestions within the next 14 days, I shall assume that you have no difficulty with me writing to the magazines so that all their readers can be made aware of the problems in the unit, and your poor after-sales response.
