And so it begins........
After a few months of having my Rangie I have decided that I am not happy with it. I have no intention of selling it as I enjoy driving it too much.
It has a few issues, as many of these old girls do and I have had enough of living with them.
My main greavance is with the insecant beeping and banging from the suspension because of someone's infinite wisdom of converting it to springs. A complete air pipe assembly, full set of air bags and compressor rebuild kit have been ordered and received by yours truly.
Next will be the leaks. The only fluid my Rangie doesn't leak is screen wash and that is an achievement as there is no cap on the washer bottle.
The engine will be removed for most of this as the diesel pump, rocker cover gasket, timing chest and sump all leak. I have in my possession, hopefully, all items required to do this. I have purchased some trim items to replace those that are missing and others that are damaged. While out it will be being painted to tart it up about.
Once this is done it will be getting a new exhaust system. I have purchased a mild steel straight through system from turbo back. I have decided against getting a stainless system for the time being as I want to know what level of noise I can accept for the journeys I do. When I have decided that I will get it made up in stainless.
Finally will be the running gear. The gearbox needs a service, again I have the parts for this and then the axles will get an overhaul with, if funds allow, ATB's front and rear, new seals and bushes.
I will upload shortly the list of items I have purchased, if any of you think I have missed anything from the subsequent this please let me know and I will look to get it ordered.

Cheers

Tom

So, I was meant to be refurbing this P38 but it seems to not want me to. In the last four days it's cost me a new battery, new starter motor and now it want's a new shift knob as the release button has just itself and so I have had to remove it and purchase a new second hand one as I am not spending £160 for a new one.

Hopefully I'll be able to start on the refurbs on Sunday, if the Poxy thing let's le drive it to work!!!!

Lol

Drilled/grooved discs (excellent at wearing out pads ;)), new zorst, auto oil, new hub.

Me thinks you’ve skipped few posts :D

The discs were on the Rangie when I got it and I forgot to take pics while I was fitting the exhaust and changing the gearbox oil and filter.

I have fitted the new gear knob and a new rear ash tray, see pictures

So I rebuilt the pump over the last two days, with various new sills and a bigger pump head. Got it running to a fashion, bit lumpy but running so time to go home or so I thought.

Within the twelve miles I've covered it's drunk all its oil and has overheated. Currently sitting on the side of the road for recovery. Time for a complete engine rebuild.

FFS!!!!

Couldn't press the like button, should be an " oh dear" button. Or words to that effect.

Think I've got it to idle correctly, may have some other issues to deal with now...
