Yes i do for parts which can make a huge difference like sensors for engine management or braking parts not for some so common parts like filters which are changed twice(or at least once) a year(provided the owner is scrupulous with the servicing) for these i've never insisted for genuine LR like i do e.g. for a MAF, CPS or MAP sensor

Hi, not doubting your email about the fuel filter@tom1979, just posting this link to JLR Classic parts which says it's out of stock, (as opposed to NLA) having said that I've noticed they (LR) seem to be discontinuing lots of parts for various models. On the fuel filter front I've always used the Mahle filters without issue (unlike ****part painted black filters I've seen rusting away, the metal casing on the Mahle filters doesn't seem to rust).

Also highly recommend Mahle, have been using them on Td5's for many years with zero issues.

OEM is about a manufacturer meeting a specification, not normally about mandating construction matierials, but more about performance of intended part.
As is why some OEM filters rust like ALLSHAKES, TERRAFOOKITS, BEARMULCH etc and others like MAHLE dont!
Vehicle manufactures will change thier OEM spec requirements ( normally in line with a new deal for supply, this is especially true with Oils.
Not all brands manufactuer fuel filters, in fact very few do.
MANN is one that does, MAHLE does.
BOSCH, CHAMPION, FRAMM do not for example.
