Hi everyone I read somewhere on Facebook that the genuine td5 fuel filters are now obsolete is this just hearsay or is it true??
It does seem like there is some truth to what I have read, guess they are still a few stock items kicking aboutHave you searched for the part number somewhere like rimmers?
Does anyone actually use genuine/badged filters though? Other than dealers/warranty?It does seem like there is some truth to what I have read, guess they are still a few stock items kicking about
Probably total rubbish.Hi everyone I read somewhere on Facebook that the genuine td5 fuel filters are now obsolete is this just hearsay or is it true??
Actually I agree with you to a certain extent, but the genuine fuel filters aren’t a paper element inside a metal tin like the oem ones they have a different kind of filter which appears to filter finer particlesOEM comes from the same factory, but without the badge
What is it, if not paper? They should be identical. Have you got a link or part number?Actually I agree with you to a certain extent, but the genuine fuel filters aren’t a paper element inside a metal tin like the oem ones they have a different kind of filter which appears to filter finer particles
A few years ago I compared the genuine filter with a Mann filter, the genuine filter is like a fibre mesh, where as the mann filter was paper inside, not saying anything wrong with the mann but overall I got scared so have only been using genuine ever sinceWhat is it, if not paper? Mann is aftermarket, not OEM though. Same as mahle etc. At least in my experience, though you might see something marketed as a genuine mann filter, ie it's not a fake mann filterA few years ago I compared the genuine filter with a Mann filter, the genuine filter is like a fibre mesh, where as the mann filter was paper inside, not saying anything wrong with the mann but overall I got scared so have only been using genuine ever since
Personally I do yes.Does anyone actually use genuine/badged filters though? Other than dealers/warranty?

To be fair you have suprised me, normally you always say get genuineLong time ago when i bought a genuine LR service kit i remember that the fuel and oil filters were Coopers and air filter was Mahle i'm sure about that, after that i kept buying the same brands as aftermarkets though IMO if they are changed at decent periods any premium brand would do the job
