Ok at some point parts are going to need to be Replaced. The HG and timing belt have been done so (hopefully) shouldn't need doing for a long time. Im sure the exhaust will soon as it sounds like there is a little hole somewhere.
What i would like to know is are the parts cheap for freelanders, especially exhaust and suspension parts and are the easy enough to change with the assistance of a haynes manual?
Or what it be fairly cheap to get a local garage to do work on the car.(i mean in labour time)

if you're a competent diy mechanic then you could tackle most things, they're not difficult to work on. The only things you may get stuck on are ABS faults and the like where you need diagnostic equipment.

As for parts, stay clear of main dealers and get stuff from bearmach or ebay. Before buying any parts, get a main dealer quote first and you'll see how much you save when you buy elsewhere.

Try Island 4x4 I was quoted £288 for a fuel pump by the main dealer and got one for £144 Prompt online ordering and delivery within 3 days

you'll find a parts supplier that yer happy with at some point , stick with them and you'll be fine ... i get most of my stuff from paddocks ( yes i know ) and i'm mostly happy with thier service , but alot of people will tell you different .... oh hang on ... i'm in the freelander bit ...... hellllpppppppp..
