Gearswitch error code 69... Help please

My check engine light has come on and my on board display shows code 69 - gearswitch. This in on a 1993 4.2 SLE.

Pray tell, what is this gear switch and what is it's importance in the grand scheme of things? I've noticed no performance change at all.

Soo.... since this car appears to have electronics from hell, I assumed that there was actually a switch of sorts associated with the tranny. Then I got to thinking (dangerous!) that it it merely referred to the gears switching properly. Somewhere on the web I found, and then lost, a post about a similar problem. The ethereal post stated that after taking slack out of the accelerator cable a 69 code popped up. I too, had removed slack from the accelerator.

After clearing the code and adding slack, the light has has stayed off. Hopefully, that was it. Anyone else experience such a problem?
