As well as my exhaust breaking last night I noticed something else.

Driving home from work (20 mins on M6) everything was fine.

Took my daughter to brownies - 10 min drive -- all ok

On way home from brownies found it very hard to change gear - as if it didnt want to go in gear -

Changing from 3rd to second was almost impossible !!!!!

got home stopped - moved lever throught all gears - no problem

Came to work this morning - no problem !!

Whats all that about ???

Chris

I get the very occasional issue with first gear. When wanting to move off from a standing start it sometimes just won't go in! Have to pop it into second, then it slides nicely into first; bob's yer proverbial. No pattern to it though.

Slave cylinder and release Bearing on mine is causing same problem. Difficult to get into gear initially now when depressed clutch I can hear the bearing whistle, so next week new clutch and release bearing going in too save two strip downs, just hope it is the clutch end and not a gearbox bearing. 2001 Td4

I sometimes have this problem too but all I do is to really 'poke' at the clutch with your toes (without the floor mats) and try to change gears. Though this practice does give quite a workout for my toes :)
