gearbox

hi new on ear just got myself a xedi i purchased quite cheap due to transmision probs removed vc and blanked ird for know to eliminate areas ird looks fairly new replaced oils and still bad noise in 1st 2nd 3rd not to bad in 4 and 5 but still there .noise on clutch when up and quiete when pressed ? would i be right in thinking its either input or layshaft bearings.also are the k series and l series gearboxes interchangable?

sounds like front brgs transverse boxes have different layout as compared to conventional gearbox

Could also be the release bearing

K + L series boxes are interchangeable, but must be out a freelander
