2002 Disco TD5 - When cold the gear lever operates as it should but after about 50 miles of driving it becomes very sticky when moving across neutral and is especially noticeable when changing down from 5th - it doesn't automatically fall in line with 3rd/4th, the same hapens when moving off from rest and changing from 2nd to 3rd. The gearbox oil level is ok - any help would be much appreciated.

Yea - thanks - I read that one but I thought that in their case it was happening all the time - I don't see why the gearchange would operate normally when cold if it needed this type of repair!!

When you strip out the plate and centralising springs mentioned in the other post you will find the gearlever is totally loose in the gearbox. If it is stiff then there may be problems further in the box.

Mine gave problems about 18 months ago, started of fine but after a few miles I had difficulty engaging gears. I bled the clutch master cylinder and all has been fine since. Not certain this will help in your case but its an easy fix to try.
