hi there i have changed my auto gear box oil and new filter, i have put about 5 ltrs back into the box and about 5 ltrs in the transfer box, but when u rev is slightly u can hear a nosie coming from the gear box, if u listen by the gear stick u can her it, sounds like a bearing that nackered, it comes and go,s, any ideas???? ???????not noticed it before i changed the oil, i have put D3 init so i no its the right oil and it drives ok.

i have got a idle bearing on the drive belt thats got a bit of play in it, i wonder if the sound is traveling, has anyone has a problem like this

The book might say it takes 11 liters but that is from empty. When you change the oil you never get the stuff in the torque converter. If you got 5 liters then I think you got more than most. I assume you measured the levels the correct way - with engine idling after you moved the selector through the gears?

i dropt the oil then stared it up to get the last bit out and filled it up with engine runnin untill it started to drip out of the filler? that how i was to to do it

Found out that when u drop the gear oil u only get about 5 ltrs back in cus ther will be some lest in the coverter. So my gear oil should be fine. But when i put the car in gear the noise gos away. So it must be the box. Its not loud u have to put ur ear by the stick to hear it.???? Any one elses car make any noise on box when out of gear reving it up a little???????? And how long do these boxs last???????

there isnt any bearings in the form you would think of in an auto box, what was old oil like ,on petrols box is very little trouble ,on diesels more common to fail but often a fairly easy repair which most places dont do and replace box instead

Just under 5 litres is refill for box. You have done well to get 5 litres in transfer box. Considering it only takes 2.3 dry. Suggest you drain some out before you blow every oil seal out.

Old oil was a little dirt, did not smell burnt. Was ok really. I just wonder if i have a little air lock in the converter??? I took it for a thrash last night when i got in the noise was not there, but this morning when it was cold i started it up and ther was nosie again, i think its one of them were its running ok so just leave it????
