Tried this today and it just wouldn't budge! Not helped by the fact you can only get a spanner on it rather than a socket.

Any tips? Is it easier to drop the prop shaft out of the way? The filler loosened really easily but I was using an 18" ratchet handle with the torx bit.

Also, to refill, it seems easier to use a funnel and tube from inside the cab, good or bad idea!!

I think people are getting confused here. The drain plug on the main gearbox is a 32mm (spanner not socket), the filler plug is a T60 torx bit, the filler plug on the transfer box is a 1/2" square and the drain plug on transfer box is 13mm or possible 15mm. Taking off the prop shaft doesn't really help, you will need to remove the flange too. I usually use a 32mm spanner and my foot. And a syringe to fill.

just went out to check : I have a square 1/2 inch hole on all plugs, filler and drain, diff transfer and gearbox, the only one different is the engine drain.
I thought it was a nice idea from LR to use a simple ratchet without needing any adaptor ... might it be that a previous owner modified it ?
