Hi folks,

I’m in the middle of a bit of work changing the oil cooler and gearbox oil cooler due to nasty leaks and it was all going kind of ok.

I notice however my existing Gearbox oil cooler has a sensor screwed to the side (presumably a temp sensor ?)

My replacement cooler which is a Britpart doesn’t have any holes for the sensor screws.

Have any of you come across this before ?

can I safely drill into the steel side ? (Nervous about damaging the cooling matrix) or would binding the sensor with arakdjte or similar be a safer option ?

Thanks again !

Bon

Hi, no the ambient temp sensor sits in front of the air-con condenser and is ‘pointy’, this sits flush on the side of the cooler.

it’s a 4.6 Gems from ‘97

Here’s the wee bugger in situ on the oks cooler -amazingly I didn’t strip the threads do it’s possible I could re-use if I had to.

Mark, did you mount yours on the front / back rather than the side ?
