CHANGED ENGINE OIL IN ME TD5 DISCO TODAY, GONNA DO GEARBOX NEXT WEEK,, NOT TO SOUND THICK, BUT IS THE GEARBOX AND TRANSFER BOX SEPARATE IN TERMS OF OIL? I MEAN DO I HAVE TO CHANGE BOTH?? ANY HELP PLEASE.
yep, different and many different types. If you do a search on here you will find a wealth of information! you'll also need a 32mm spanner to undo the sump nut on the R380 box
suggest you can open the filler b4 you loosen the drain - just in case you end up with no oil, and no way to fill!!!!!
You'll also need some sort of pump because both the gbox and trans fillers are hard to get at
:hijacked:Would a large syringe do the job? Not done it before but my g/box & t/box are due a fluid change in April and I'd like to be prepared ... any thought's on which pump to get/use if syringe is not a possibility?
I use a 500ml syringe and a foot of clear pipe, bought it from a tool shop and works really well. Good enough for EP as well as thinner oils too - £8 to buy.
Thanks for that, already use a large syringe for the diff's just need a fresh one & the tubing and I'll be sorted for the gearbox. Put my mind at ease that has
Just out of interest, if you have one already for doing the diffs, why do you need a fresh one.
