I'm trying to find out which gearbox and transfer case is in my 1986 Ninety. I have looked up the chassis no. SALLDVAD7A******9 but it seems there are a couple of possible gearboxes. One website I looked at told me: LT85, LT77, LT77S, R380 or other
The only reason I wanted to know was for servicing sake as some gearboxes appear to need different types and amounts of oil, and transfer cases too.
Does anyone know any way to tell which is the exact gearbox and transfer case I have? And does it actually matter or do all the possible gearboxes (LT77 and LT77S etc.) take the same oil and amount of oil anyway?
Also, what are the recommended oil change intervals for these gearboxes and transfer cases? I have struggled to find much servicing information on the internet about Nineties and One Ten's from the eighties (pre the Defender badge). Would anyone recommend a Haynes service manual?
