Hi gearbox questions again. My rangies a 96 2.5dse How much gearbox oil will i need after doing my flex plate. Also fresh transfer box oil what oil and amount? Still got an electrical drain. 0.3ma is ment to be correct once computers gone to sleep? Whats best way to check this and also finding the circuit causing the drain?. Heated seats dont work non of windows do front or rear. Everything else seems too. Could anyone shed any light. Tuesday or Wednesday she'll be on the road assuming i can do flex plate in a day thanks in advance folks

As you need to remove and replace gearbox with torque convertor in position on box, you should need little oil for gearbox. Other than top up loss from cooler pipes. If you change oil around five litres of Dexron II or III. Same oil for transfer box 2.3 litres from empty slightly less for refill after drain. Do on level ground and fill until oil runs from filler/level plug.

Ah okay no problems thanks for the heads up appreciated can't wait to get my rangie up and going been borrowing a frontera 2.2dti really embaresing since my transporter died. Cant wait to give the keys back haha

Follow the correct refill procedure for the auto box, engine cold, preliminary fill, start engine and move slowly through all gear positions and back to N or P, continue filling until it dribbles out of the filler hole or reaches the correct level on the dip stick.

Cheers datatek assume once thats right just fill through dipstick hole? Take it filler hole is near right level. Do i keep engine running with filler hole off?

Does you car have a dipstick for the auto box? If so you fill via that, there is no separate filler hole, if no dipstick it's on your back under the car. Engine must be cold and running when filling to level.

I only get 2 3 D N R. Park and 1 wont select as it is my father in law had a propshaft failure and somthings slightly out of line. Havent seen what he did before been like this for a while will i cause harm if i can't get 1st or park?

not if its selecting the other gears fully ,id check the selector lever on outside of box it probably need bending away from the box

Somthings bent underneath but having just glancing underneath havent had a proper look yet its a tad notchy around netural have to be really slow and precice for low to high and visa verser. and reverse is a fiddle to get into. Ran everyday without fault for 2years before plate went. Still will be an experience 1st auto iv ever owned im 24 and iv only just given up on the trend of gti's and sri's haha

Yeahh paying my mate for the day to help so will be able to see what its doing or not doing while he moves the stick. Is the panel inside a pig to get off to get handbrake cable off?
