Disco 1 Gearbox change

Hi All
Any tips on changing the gearbox on a D1 auto
can it be done without a ramp?on the driveway, we have a broken flex plate I think

if you have access to an engine crane it can be reasonably done on firm ground it helps to jack up drivers side and put engine crane in through passenger door after removing center console etc,once mounts are off you can lower rear of box to ease access to top bell housing bolts and oil cooler pipe then raise box to undo the rest ,undo t/c bolts and try and keep it fully engaged in the box if you can

Personally I've always preferred to pull the engine than drop the gearbox.....
