gear selector jamming

may need slight tap ,if interlock collars move on selector shaft gear selection is hindered ,its more than likely fine but i have seen the odd one broken so is easy check while your there ,seal with silicone or similar as with top ,fit springs to top before fitting top and lleave loose so you can set bias plate with gear stick attached temporarily i mis read one of your early posts and obviously with top off yoke moves to left and back for 5th and forward for rev

Thanks again.
I suspect the new bias plate will be here in the next few days. The old one does seem to have a slight twist at base of upright tab but I might just be hoping to see that!

I was looking for a winter hobby, shame I can't do it in the warm and dry!!

OK, I had to have a go! I've got the nut out but whenever it last went in they stuck it down with some gunk. I've dug as much out as I can from the small space adjacent to the nut bujt looking at the diagram it has a slot at it's base so it wont twist and I can't push it into the slight recess in the pear shaped hole it sits in to free it off but I have to physically lift it upwards. How do I do that when there's doesn't appear a way of getting under it to pop it up and out?
I've prodded and poked to no avail

Dog walk beckons!!

go inside open box and lever up from underneath enough to get under it at the top ,its that slot holds inter lock collar in place ,the ridge or shoulder on the collar fits in and holds in place (neutral) selector fork ,ie fork cant move forward or back as shoulder /ridge holds it ,spigot your removing holds the collar ,theres a slot in the collar and shoulder that pin poking out of selector shaft locates when rotated into line with fork ,fork can be moved by sector shaft but not before they are aligned ,so unless selector shaft is aligned with 5th you cant move its synchro hub by hand ,but once that spigots out you can therefore proving 5th synhro hub is ok ,click back to neutral with hub check shoulder is central of hole and refit spigot

I took the spigot out and can see the ring below. This rotates with the selector but wont move forward and back until I move the selector to the far left and then the ring can run up and down the shaft allowing the selector to go into reverse and in theory 5th. When I move it up or down the shaft then the selector will not return to centre. If I line the ring up with the hole then the selector can go back to centre. Tried to select 5th with the spigot out and same resistatnce. I'm wondering, as mentioned before, that if the box is stationary and slightly out kif line it wont go in and I need to rotate the box slightly to free it up a bit and give some slack. A bit like when it won't go into reverse and you rock the box in first. Does that make sense or is it rubbish?

Now I really really must go to work!!

I've put it all back together as per your suggestions, suprisingly easy, adjusted the bias plate as by Rave, took it for a test drive and first attempt at 5th, no joy but if I kept prressure o lever and lifted clutch it squeeled, small teeth cog not big teeth cog sound, had another go up and down the box and it popped into 5th no drama, done about 10 miles and hundreds of goes up and down box and works fin, just a slightly more noticeable positivity as it goes into gear. it looks like whatever was out had been for some time and eventually went outside it's operating limits.
