Hello out there Ive been having a gearbox problem it sounded like the bias plate. After taking out console to inspect it seems fine not split or loose. It is hard to select gear at times like something obstructing the gear selection. After finding this not to be the problem i had gear box oil changed. There is no improvement Its a discovery td5 1999.Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be.Thanks

Sounds Like a Clutch problem..If not it could be the gearchange selectors are worn in your gearbox..Do you get a squealing noise from the clutch thrust bearing, when you push in the clutch..Also I notice that the clutch pedal on the TD5 is Hydrolic so maybe it needs bleeding..My TD5 is getting a bit funny to put into First and second gear lately..But Im getting a squeal noise when I push in the clutch..So maybe my problem is to do with a worn Thrust bearing..If not its going to be a down to a gearbox problem on the selectors..

but did you remove the bias plate to inspect the gear change pivot under it too? ,.. it's from plastic and used to crack as well

My clutch master cylinder has been weeping for some time (new one is sat on the shelf waiting for the weather/urge....) - first and second noticeably notchy, don't think its fully releasing clutch any more, so a bit of drag....

Could be many things as others say. Good luck. A
