Are the auto gearbox selector switches on the TD5 the same as the V8s as I need one and £150 for a S/H switch is taking the ****.

I'll have a look see if I've still got my old one, we have wen them apart and cleaned the contacts etc at work before but they do t last long before they're gone again in my experience, mine worked with no m and s lights but wouldn't reverse

I am not bad with electrics and electronics, I converted a VCR to NICAM, I repair keyfobs, basically happy to play with anything from SMD to mains.

So happy to give it a go and see what can be done

I'll have a look at work tomorow see if it's still there if so your welcome to it, just a thought, the p38 uses the same switch with a different plug, has anyone tried swapping the plug to a disco type? As they're around £40 SH

If I have the parts I could swap them over.

I like dining room projects (near PC and a socket for my soldering iron)

That's an enormous difference !!!!! Are you sure about that? Swapping the plug of the existing faulty one should take any effort at all.
