I’m not convince lol

Well, I am.

I have done more than half a million miles in LR products including 150K in RRC's without issue - the only time I have needed recovery has been due to accidents, which have actually always been other peoples fault (!)

However, to be realistic, I wouldn't have a modern one given me as they are way way way too complicated. IMHO motor vehicle engineering reached its peak in about 2000 - anything more modern than that is a no go for me.

Sorry OP :(.

Hi

It’s ever so easy finding faults with the modern landies, honest , lol

I completely agree, especially the comment about RRC's. The only point I might have an issue with is your cut-off date, which I'd put prior to that.
Today's owners must have a totally different mind-set to my generation, most seem to accept appalling reliability issues & the resulting financial burden as a price worth paying for being seen in the latest model

:) I loved all my RRC's - the fuel bill included - the constant visits to the fuel station due the limited range, not so much - that was the only thing that persuaded me away from them.

Okay - what date would you suggest ? - genuinely interested - Our D1's are both 97's - and there is no way in hell I'm going anywhere near anything modern. Ever.

They have been de-skilled to a frightening extent :mad::mad: - IMHO - it's more brainwashing than much else :(

( as predicted in the 60's by H@rry Br@verm@n's rather good book, L@bour and M0n0p0ly C@pital ..... )

My neighbours have much newer cars than mine and seem to break down as much and cost more to fix. My youngest car is the Jag on a 2001. That is more than complex enough.

RRC Vouge 32 years old 56k
But then I'm 74 years old myself, with a mindset to match ;)

If the politicians put many more restrictions on cars, I'm seriously thinking of buying a tractor to do the weekly 30Km shopping run:eek:

No MOT, no road tax and cheap insurance:D

Indeed ;) - and exemption from most of the C&U regs over 'ere ;)

I hear on the grapevine that certain insurers are requiring a third party inspection due to farmers taking the you know what.... ;)

I reckon the late 'nineties too. There's a void between engineering excellence & pandering to the gullible, but it's the latter that keeps the shareholders happy

For the D3 many of us use an iid made by gap, alas they are around £410 but do virtually everything that’s needed inc being able to reset the suspension / adjust height etc

Think the foxwell is another one used
Can you flash all the ecu with it and supplied with the software downloads? as my NANOCOM can

If you got a tractor you could join all the other farmers in france who like to run them with a trailer load of wet SH** or manure through the villages on market day to get the greatest impact

Hi

Indeed u can , some of the updates may cost an extra £25 , my D3 didn’t have the update to motor the turbo actuator back and forth every time the engine was turned on and off, is to prevent it from sticking , that I had to pay for

When u first plug it in, u update the entire system to a newer 07 which re flashes all the ones that can be updated , alas there are around 26 x ecus , some of course don’t need updating , ie like parking sensors etc

Must admit having these readers saves a fortune seeing dealer want £160 plus vat every time it’s plugged in

have put a link here, if u put ur make and year in it will show u what it’s capable of

Hope that helps
