Hi,
I have a Freelander 1 TD4 and at times, I can smell a gas smell inside the cabin. (pretty much like household butane gas) I know the fuel burning heater can smell, but it's not cold here and the smell is noticeable when the engine is at operating temperature.
I took the car through some lanes today, and the smell disappeared. But as soon as I got onto a main road and did 30-40+ mph, I could smell it again.
The air-con does need re-gassing. That said, I never turn it on, so I'm not sure if that's the problem. I have just disconnected the two fuses for the air con to see if it makes a difference, but I doubt it given that it's not switched on anyway.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Rich
P.S
No there isn't a calor gas bottle in the boot!
