hi when driveing slow 10mph.. my car has all the sings of a bad wheel bearing:mad: but i just dont think its down to a wheel bearing iv jacked the car up and iv had a good look around all the wheels and they have no play in them the ... i think it might be something to do with the gearbox brake:confused:..is that a quick something i could open up and have a look at with limited tools or should i take it to a garage....

Could be a cv joint or differential problem.
i hope it not the diff ..but its a strange one .. even the man down the garage is lost as to wot it could be  i think it will have to get worse befor i can pinpoint the problem:rolleyes: it dose not effect the car at all i just throught id ask and see if anyone might of had the problems.. do you know if the gear brake is a easy thing to have apart so i can see if thats not the problem its a big round drum next to the gear box... i dont want to open it to find out i need a proper tool of some kind to put it back together:eek:?? thanks

9/16th or 14mm spanners(2) take the rear prop off, big screw driver and a hammer to take drum off

thanks mate iv had the prop of befor and changed wot i think are called shells:confused: and greased all the nips.. but i did not want to open the drum as knowing my luck id open it and it would all go to bits on me:eek:.when i open it up. would it be the same sort of set up inside as a drum brake on a old car??:) PS.. can you tell my wife when shes finished at your house:eek: playing with oil and pulling her nickers up and down;) the flipping washing up is still here waiting and it ant going to do its self :D:D lol

Tyres, shocks, bearings, transfere box, propshafts, diffs, all can tribute to a noise recently had a customer p38a in for a new transfere box and rear diff as the vc had seized and buggered the rear diff and the Tyres too once we had changed these it made a host of unheard noises appear mainly both rear wheel bearings.
The moral is letting it progress could also cost you more spend a few hours with it on axle stands and running it up to speed and listening carefully you should find the fault

hi mate could you tell me wot is a vcu:confused: and would my car drive if it is seized? thanks :)
Viscous Coupling Unit. Jack one front wheel off the ground, it should just be possible to turn it with a lot of effort. If it will not turn the VCU is seized which locks the centre diff and will eventually destroy the front or rear diff:eek:

As I said, just one front wheel to test. Look at Ashcroft transmissions site for VCU's or breakers.
