Hi all,
I've fitted my 2" lift kit, and it went suprisingly well, considering it's probably the most drastic job I've ever done myself. It's the FULL 2" Lift kit from paddocks, which seems to have everything apart from camber correction radius arms, or different props/wider UJ's. Now I know I'm a novice, in the land of the experts here, but I'm getting a twanging type sound, and am guessing it's a UJ under stress. I only hear it occasionally and at low speeds (but it could be doing it all the time).

Is my diagnosis likely to be correct, or am I just trying to justify the money for new radius arms to myself?

Cheers

Twanging sound cud be a needle bearing in one of the uj's under stress, I got this a couple of weeks before one of my uj's went but only happened when I went round a corner, happened about a dozen times then all of a sudden made a snapping noise and it stopped, 2 weeks later UJ went pop. when i took it off the bearings were rusted to fook no surprise really,

Invest in a good grease gun and keep year nipples well greased to avoid such shennanigins, similarly look at this thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/universal-joints-56682.html

Im running a 3 inch lift and 33's and they do wear out quicker that average but hey a cheap as chips job to fix.;)

Cheers, I think for the sake of it, I'll just change all my UJ's. I've never done it before but it sounds fairly easy, I've got a Haynes Bible. It only seems to do it when I'm slowing down, at about 12mph.

Cheers

No worries, it is pretty easy, just dont worry hitting stuff hard with a hammer its pretty indestructable and if you do knacker it theyre peanuts to replace, just make sure the UJ feels nice n loose when you put it back on any stiffness in it and it will wear faster and cause more drag on the vehicle.

Best of luck ..............:D

Just a thought, could it be the shocker hitting the axle? It does seem very close , I've just uploaded a few pics to the computer, and this one reminds me that it's close.

I could loosen the nut a bit at the bottom, or get a hack saw on it?

AHA! you may have it there, it seems a little long the bottom of that shock have you missed out any washers from the bottom mount ?

Wouldnt get the hacksaw out just yet, ud be amazed at where you get noises rom on these things, great fun most of the time frustrating the rest !

its not the nut, go for uj's, i have the same shocks on mine, ittle just bend the end and have done with it when you next cane it off road.
