Full Galv steel or Alu Rear Door

Hi all:

My rear door on my 110 300 Tdi had its day and I was going to replace it with an Aluminium skin door.

But then I saw a full Galvanized skinned door on ebay by SPLandrovers. Should I stay with the Alu or get a full galvanized door for my TDI?

If you get an ali one and treat all the frame thoroughly with Dinitrol paint or similar and then wax and make sure you re-do the wax every couple of years it'll last longer than the current one's 20 years. Galv is nice but it's also more than twice as costly. Worth it for a chassis, bulkhead or front doors but unless your feeling flush you might as well save your money.

Agree with cowaski,I have a 25 year old 90 withe original rear door because of treatment similar to what he suggests.Also have checker plate on the inside and this stiffens the door a lot.Good if you carry spare in the standard way.

Full steel will weigh more too
