I had a leak on my fuel tank a while back, it stopped when I added some jubilee clips to the flexible joint between the tank and the filler neck.
However, it leaked again so I took it off today and found a tiny split it the seam of the rubber hose. Main stealers say this part is no longer made!
A 1998 car and they can't get the stupid bit of rubber hose!!!!!
It's part ESR 4283 all the online suppliers say the same thing, no longer available.
So I bodged it up with a oil resistant silicone gasket gunk, a neoprene bandage and some cable ties, this will work but I would like to do a 'proper job' .
Any ideas where I can get one, anyone have one?
Cheers.
Paul.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the part has to be available by law for a pre determined time from production (think it's 15yrs).

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong!!!

The part is no longer made I am told, the dealer was only able to tell me that and said I'm on my own regards how I fix it....
I won't fit a 10 year old second hand rubber pipe, that's asking for tears. A tank full of diesel is too much to lose...
The main dealer didn't offer any solutions but when I looked at the parts lists it would appear this part is not fitted to the TD4, it looks like the filler neck on the TD4 joins right on to the tank. I have no idea if this means a TD4 filler neck would replace my old filler neck and the rubber joint? At £100+ for a new one I don't want to try that! Maybe a s/h one will do for that. (If there is no rubber joint)
Sounds like a unusual fault then?

I'd contact LR customer services if I were you just for clarification!

Well in-between rain showers I have fitted the repaired pipe and put 25l of fuel in the tank. Fingers crossed!
I would still like to source a replacement ESR 4283 if anyone can help?

If not maybe someone can tell me if a TD4 filler neck replaces my older one?

:car:

Surely a secondhand one that is in good condition is going to be better than the worn secondhand one already fitted to your car.

The one I have looks like new except it's opened along the seam.
I 'assume' they no longer make or use them due to this fault.
That's why I won't use a second hand one, if that splits I could lose a tank fulk of fuel....
